Parents

Do my kids want to hear from me about sex? According to a poll done by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (2007), and a recent MSN-Zogby poll, parents have the strongest influence on their teen’s decision to have sex.

You’ve heard it said time and again, “There are two great gifts we can give our children; one is roots; the other, wings.”

There you have it, parents! Give your kids good grounding. Root them in what you know to be true. Do your best to give them a solid foundation on which to build their lives. Equip them with what they’ll need. And then, at the appropriate time, set them free to live that life.

Give your teens the one thing that no one can take away – the power to make choices about their behavior. Dr. Seuss had it right. “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” Empower your teens by giving them roots and wings.
